Ukraine's peas exports are expected to rise to 400 KMT in the 2024/25 MY, up from 314 KMT in the previous season, according to market expert Andriy Bilenkyi during a presentation at the Trend&Hedge Club online event on 02 Oct.

A. Bilenkyi attributed the increase in exports to a projected rise in production, which is estimated 472 KMT in Ukraine for 2024/25 MY.

“We see a gradual restoration of peas planting areas following a sharp decline in 2022 when key producing region – Zaporizhzhia – was partially occupied by russia. From 2022 to 2024, there has been a significant expansion of peas acreage in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions. In 2024, the total area is expected to reach 211 KHA, compared to 240 KHA in 2021, before the war began” he noted.

According to the expert, in the 2023/24 MY, Turkey was the largest importer of Ukrainian peas, receiving 85 KMT, while notable volumes were also exported to southern and southeastern Asia and Europe.
