What happens when abundance turns into competition?
At Grain Academy 2025 in Varna, ASAP Agri CEO & Atria Brokers’ broker Christina Serebriakova took the stage with her powerful keynote “Black Sea Grain Gladiators: Who Rules 2025/26 Competition?”
From the spirit of the Colosseum to today’s Black Sea arena, Christina brought to life the modern grain gladiators — exporters battling for markets, margins, and momentum:
▪️ russia’s wheat dominance in Egypt is fading
▪️ Ukraine’s wheat faces EU quota limits yet strengthens its foothold in Egypt
▪️ Romania and Bulgaria celebrate record wheat harvests, boosting regional trade power
▪️ Ukraine’s 2025/26 corn outlook remains uncertain amid stiff competition with the U.S.
But that wasn’t all — Christina also moderated the flagship panel “Navigating Trade in a Time of Abundance,” where experts from the UK, Spain, and Jordan connected the dots between weather, veg oils, global grains, and MENA demand.
“Abundance doesn’t bring comfort — it brings competition,” Christina said.
And this season makes it clear: full silos mean little unless your offer wins the deal.
