As of 13 October 2025, Ukraine’s winter planting campaign for 2025/26 advanced steadily over the week, helped by improved soil moisture in western and northern oblasts following early-October rains. Farmers had completed grains planting on 57% of planned areas (+10 p.p. w/w), still lagging behind last year’s pace (72%) with 59% done under wheat (2.82 MHA), and 39% under barley (222 KHA), according to official data.
The wheat sowing pace gained 10 percentage points w/w, however it is a slight slow down. The strongest weekly planting gains between 6–13 October were recorded in Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi, Odesa, Lviv, and Chernihiv oblasts, reflecting how weather patterns shaped fieldwork. Overall, wheat sowing progress reached 59.9% of the forecast 4.78 MHA, compared with 52% (2.6 MHA) at the same time last year.
