According to Pavel Lysenko, analyst with ASAP Agri and freight broker with Atria Brokers, no major shifts have been observed on the Black Sea freight market approaching mid-June. Owners continue to firmly stand their ground, trying to avoid further rate cuts despite limited demand for tonnage. However, charterers still manage in some cases to secure slightly lower rates in the Handysize and Coaster segments, particularly, on short-leg trips to Turkey and East Med countries.

According to Atria Brokers’ freight department, Panamax freight for corn shipments from Ukrainian deep-water ports to South China remains stable at 31 USD/MT.

In the Handysize segment, freight for a 30,000t corn shipment to East Coast Italy holds at last done levels 16–17 USD/MT.

In the Coaster segment, freight for a 6,000t corn shipment from Ukrainian Danube ports to East Coast Italy remains at 29–30 USD/MT.

Barge freight for 1,000–3,000t of corn from Izmail or Reni to Constanta remains within 8–9 EUR/MT.
