
As of May 15, Ukraine has sown almost 5 MHA of spring grains and pulses area, reaching 87% of the forecast, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
The planting of late oilseed crops is approximately three-quarters complete, with 77% of the sunflower and 72% of the soybean areas sown. Corn planting is also progressing well, with 87% completed. Early spring grain sowing is nearing completion, with barley at 96% and wheat at 95%.
Despite the solid weekly progress by 11 percentage points, farmers are facing regional challenges. Prolonged frost episodes and spring drought have significantly impacted crops in parts of southern and central Ukraine. Ukrhydrometcenter reports up to 40% crop losses in affected southern areas, especially in winter wheat and rapeseed.
