On 20 December 2024, Ömer Bolat, Minister of Trade of Turkey, announced about increase of the current wheat import quota for Turkey to 25% (from 15% active until 31 December, 2024), said Salih Karagoz, Broker at Atria Brokers. The written paper is expected to follow soon.
Under this policy, millers must purchase 75% of their wheat needs from TMO for flour production, leaving them only able to import the remaining 25% under the Inward Processing Regime.
