Global 2024/25 barley production was raised by 0.3 MMT to 142.1 MMT, with higher output for Ukraine and Canada partially offset reductions to the EU and Australia. Particularly, Ukrainian crop estimation was raised by 0.5 MMT to 5.9 MMT, and Canadian – by 0.6 MMT to 8.1 MMT. In turn, production for Australia was cut by 0.5 MMT to 11.7 MMT, and for the EU – by 0.35 MMT to 50.4 MMT.

Higher production estimates led to an upward revision of 2024/25 barley exports for Ukraine and Canada by 0.1 MMT each to 2.5 MMT and 2.1 MMT correspondingly. In turn, the expectations for Australia were cut by 0.5 MMT to 5.8 MMT, and for the EU – by 0.1 MMT to 6.2 MMT. Thus, global exports are now seen 0.4 MMT lower m/m at 25.9 MMT.

For importers, the report has brought reductions for China by 0.5 MMT to 10 MMT.

Global barley ending stocks for 2024/25 MY are projected at 17.6 MMT, up slightly m/m.
