
Global 2024/25 barley production was cut by
1.1 MMT to 141.8 MMT, with the main reduction made for russia, where crop is
now estimated at 16.5 MMT, down by 1 MMT m/m. Harvest estimates were also
reduced by 0.1 MMT for the EU, the UK and Turkey each. In contrast, some 0.2
MMT were added for Kazakhstan - to 3.6 MMT.
Lower production estimates led to a downward
revision of russia's 2024/25 barley exports (-0.8 MMT to 2.6 MMT), while the
expectations for Kazakhstan were raised slightly by 0.1 MMT to 1.7 MMT. Thus,
global exports are now seen 0.7 MMT lower m/m at 26.3 MMT.
For importers, the report has brought
reductions for Saudi Arabia (-0.4 MMT to 2.6 MMT), Iran (-0.2 MMT to 1.3 MMT),
Turkey (-0.2 MMT to only 0.2 MMT), and Libya (-0.1 MMT to 0.6 MMT).
Global barley ending stocks for 2024/25 MY
are projected at 17.5 MMT, down slightly m/m.
