Ukraine’s rapeseed production for 2025/26 may fall by 20% on the year due to unfavorable weather conditions that delayed planting and put at risk sufficient crop development before winter.

According to the Ukrainian Agriculture Ministry, 1.05MLN HA were sown with rapeseed as of 21 October compared with 1.27MLN HA harvested this summer. The optimal window for rapeseed planting has already closed, meaning that a 17% year-on-year reduction in rapeseed areas for 2025/26 must be already considered.

It should also be emphasized that a significant share of the rapeseed areas has been sown quite late.

Meanwhile, the European rapeseed balance sheet for 2025/26 is already seen as tight, offering support for prices.
