No positive signs are seen for shipowners operating on the Black Sea market. Cargo orders are scarce across all DWT segments, with Ukrainian grain being the most active. Thus, despite autumn approaching, shipowners still have little choice but to accept charterers' terms. This week, charterers' pressure was most evident in the Panamax and coaster segments, while Handysize and barge rates remain stable.

Freight rates for coasters loaded with corn from Ukrainian Danube ports to Marmara have decreased by 1 USD/MT to 17 USD/MT while towards East Coast Greece rates hold steady at 18-20 USD/MT. Rates to East Med ports have inched down by 2 USD/MT to 20-21 USD/MT. Freight to Israeli ports remains steady at 29-30 USD/MT. Rates for East Coast Italy also stay stable at 26-27 USD/MT while towards Spain freight has sagged by 1 USD/MT to 28-39 USD/MT.
