The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine forecasts the corn harvest in the country at 25 MMT this year, said Taras Vysotskyi, the Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine at Trend & Hedge Club on 21 August 21.

"I think there was a lot of discussion after the USDA came out (note: 27.2 MMT). We are less optimistic. Our base estimate for today is 25 MMT. Some say the rains in July helped in some areas. But we do not have so much optimism, taking into account the real situation in the fields," T. Vysotskyi explained.

The Ministry estimates the wheat harvest in Ukraine in 2024 at 21.8 MMT. At the same time, the share of food wheat is preliminarily expected to be close to 40% in the total volume.

"For sunflower, we currently see the harvest at 12 MMT. But it is possible that up to 1.5 MMT will appear in the balance later, as is usually the case for sunflower, judging by the processing volume," T. Vysotskyi added.

As a reminder, the latest USDA forecasts for harvests in Ukraine were voiced at the following levels: wheat - 21.6 MMT, corn - 27.2 MMT, sunflower - 13.5 MMT. Forecasts from UGA are the next: wheat - 19.8 MMT, corn - 23.4 MMT, sunflower - 12.8 MMT.
